Why should you contribute, because if it wasnt for IV following up with Congresswoman Lofgren, your signature would simply read:
"PD Date: 03/2003 EB3,i140 aprvd from NSC: 09/2005".

Please share your experiences if you renewed your NJ DL with EAD renewal notice.
My nj dl is due for renewal. I have applied for EAD renewal. I have the receipt notice and am working on EAD.

I assume you want to renew DL based on the receipt notice for your EAD renewal not the valid EAD itself. If so, I know the Edison DMV located on kilmer rd (near edison train st) gives you 6 mo. renewal... I got it from them in dec based on my h1 rcpt notice...
If you have a valid ead, then they'd renew your DL till the expiry shown on EAD.

If they are such smart to calculate numbers like you said, which is theoritically possible, they would not be creating mess like this for years.
Yes, it is easy for them to know how many applications are filed and from which country and how many are in which category etc etc. Based on visa numbers availability, they could very well process the applications are request the visa numbers from DHS. When USCIS handles all the 485 processing, then how come DHS is responsible for moving the dates in VB. It is insane and ridiculous for DHS to have this functionality when they do not have any idea on 485 apps with USCIS. They are scewing up immigrants deliberately without transparency between them.
People are jumping into conclusion with a few approvals from 2004/2005, but what you are not considering is the number of people with 2001/2002 priority dates who just applied for 485 in June. There might be a lot of them (I am one of those). If there are not too many of them, it is good for everyone, but its very tough to predict.

I just spoke with an Immigration Representative of my Senator. She knows me as I met her last year with my employer for my other issue.
She just informed me that we are (Not only we but whole Congress) shocked with un-precedent action of DOS/USCIS for July VB. Senator's Washington DC office is working on this issue including immediate legislative relief to Employment Based immigration. She is well aware of whole drama of July VB. I am going to call Washington DC Office as well.
I encourage every one call to their Senator and HR and speak with Immigration Representative. I think first time media and lawmakers have acknowledged the problem of Employment Based Immigration.

There are no US embassies on US soil..I think you meant USCIS local office and are alluding to "interim" EADs. USCIS discontinued that practice last year.
I thought if we dont get the EAD after 90 days, we can walk into the US Embassy in the city nearer to us and get the EAD on the spot(more like a driver's license).:eek:

I feel that initiator of this thread is not trying a coup d'�tat. He is merely pointing to the fact that every organization runs by elected officials. Having a life term president and core group is only heard in autocratic systems but not in a democratic one. What are we as an organization?
Why are we afraid of discussing new ideas? Why shouldn't we open up IV organization for elections? There is nothing wrong in declaring the rules and then playing by those rules.
So I completely support the guy who came up with this suggestion.

Can somebody explain me why this disco guy and this Villamonte guy are even on this forum ??? We are sitting here for 9-10 years telling our folks in our home countries, I'll come in may, no probably july, no in july my papers goes for renewals,, may be Dec. no in Dec. tickets are too expensive and in March I have my project live date, may be next may oh no by then I'll have to send my papers for renewal.... well you know what, forget about me, you stay happy where you are and I live happily here....

IV was founded right after the failure of a bill in the house in Dec 2005 that was intended to re-capture unused visa numbers (which passed in the Senate BTW, thanks to Sen Specter).
So, I guess my point is that it is not easy even to get the congress to recapture visa numbers....

This is specifically for those people who have never contributed but feel like contributing but for some reason hesitate to pull the trigger. For all such people who start a monthly contribution of $50 and promise (not to me or anyone else but themselves) to keep contributing for at least the next 6 months, I am going to make a one-time contribution of $50 for every such person. What a nobel idea. IV has thousands of members and we all are with you. What we don't seems to have is LEADER. Yes, we are lacking leaders like you, If you start I am sure all IV members will follow you. Just drop us a line when you are ready to start. We all are counting on you.

Increasing green card numbers will resolve this problem also. For example doubling the Visa numbers will not have much impact when CIS wastes a few hundred or a few thousand Visa numbers. If Annual cap is 300k then also CIS may waste 5k Visa numbers every year on average. But without increasing gc numbers even full utilization of 140k Visa will not have any impact Indian PD as demand is high.
Last year they "wasted" about 10K visa numbers. It is absolutely up to them. However congress has authorized 140k a year and there are huge backlogs for AOS and CP. So when you put that together, leaving about 10K unapproved is clearly not enforcing congressional mandates. The ombudsman blasted them for this in his report, then we had the VB fiasco. None of this sounds like great management of the benefits. There clearly is room for improvement.
We (us and our employers) as the recipients of the benefits are complaining about this, and it is perfectly legitimate.
If any visa numbers are left unused, I definitely think we ought to take up this issue with congressional leaders like Zoe Lofgren. Even just a visa recapture legislation alone would help us tremendously until 2009(about the earliest they might get back to this issue more fully).
