Lets have a quick penultimate round. New contributors have, so far, not let us down. They have stepped forward in each and every round and made it a success. They have taken the most difficult step; contribute for the first time. I know, I was there once. Kudos to them.
In this round could I have support from three existing contributors to quickly finish this round. May I have some pledges please? I would like to fire the third round. BTW this pistol has seven shots. Once we finish this round we will move to the last round and it has 14 shots. 21 shots in total.
These 2 rounds is specially dedicates to the core team members; without them there won�t be any shots fired here. Without them Sept18th would be just one ordinary day on the calendar. They have given us a chance to remember Sep18th forever, no matter what the results are after that day. For me personally, Sept 18th will be a defining moment. My attorney is Stupid . She never gives any information and says it is the property of employer( Even LIN numbers)

I do not believe the 800,000 figure for I-485 alone. It could be a misquote from Aytes. The 800,000 is possibly combination of all immigration related applications such as I-140, 485, 131, 765, etc.
Even during last year when EBs are current, it didn't reach that many applications. I believe Matthew OH is more accurate in saying there's a total of 320,000 I-485 applications.
With that figure, average 2.5 years waiting is in order. But that should not be distributed equally among all countries due to per country limit. I would guess, for India and China, it would be 3 years wait, and for the rest, 2 years.

But this generally applies to people affected by retrogression. If one isn't affected by retrogression, applies for I-140 after 5/15/2007 and gets green card before 10/1/2008 (which is possible) then that person should be ok, is that right?
My guess is that while processing the I-485, they will check the filing date for the I-140. If it was filed before May 15th 2007 and the PD is current, they will process it. If it was filed after May 15th 2007, then they won't process the I-485 since the I-140 is invalid.

if not going- plenty of time :-)

all i did was to use "standard" instead of regular shipping
cost me less than $2 more for 3 items
here's my deal:
ordered friday night
shipped monday morning (first working day)
in transit now and scheduled for delivery wednesday
so you can still order and get it for the rally!!!!

Heres the sliver lining of all this immigration mess. Its good for spiritual development. I came here 10 years ago in mid 20s. My understanding of Indian philosophy was rudimentary at best. Now I have found reading and meditating on the meaning of Gita is one of the best ways for me to deal with the GC mess, and life in general. ...welcome to the new nightmare, someone did say something about the grass been green on the other side..now that we are on the other side we wait for 485 to be current while we renew EAD/AP each year, fingerprint every 15 months and aviod the namecheck black hole...maybe this is what they(uscis) wanted after all...a steady income stream...good luck :)
