May be yes....applying greencard is required to extend the H1...having said that one has to spend huge money in applying for GC...at the same time one can also stay out of US for an year and come back if required...
well the reasons are many...and all seems to be valid...
I agree having 1 crore is sort of middle class..especially with the real estate boom in Hyderabad..you won't get a two bedroom flat in a decent area unless you pay around 20 lakhs...
on a lighter note...1 crore is just simple....for the people over there...for example my father retired in early 2004 and spent his retirement money to buy a two bedroom apartment and a small piece of land (about 10 lakhs in total)...now the apartment itself costs about 11 lakhs and land costs about another 14 lakhs.........earning/saving of about 15 lakhs in 3 years....how many of us could do that ;)
when i came to US at first i thought i would go back to india if i have 1 crore, but when time goes by, i came to know that now a days in india people who have 1 Crore are considered as Middle Class,

so atleast we can say that there is a different opinion exists among attorney's too, than one of that RK's.
As mentioned in some of the above posts,
1. PPL mentioned successful renewal of EAD while MTR was filed.
2. PPL reported been able to continue working while 485 was in appeal due to invocation of 140 by previous employer after 180 days of 485.
So, I am sure there is something that is mis-guiding us here. As suggested above, Do you think if sending an email to CIS ombudsman as an individual would help? or can we do it under IV's banner if that is more effective? Suggestions?

Eb2 people are highly qualified compared to EB3. I encourage EB2 people do the following before taking the action against eb3 to eb2.
1.Get more GC numbers.
2.Upgrade your self to EB1. So that you can get visas immediately.
3.Fight for GC approvals in FIFO order.
If you ignore above issues but focus on Eb3 to Eb2, you are definitely from EB2 and you want to fight for your own GC. Nothing else matters to you.

I can organize weekly Conf. call, but I would need some initial input from IV Core Team about its activities. I also need to understand what were SoCal chapter targets and if any progress has been made. Maybe 485Mb4001 or Amit can guide on this?

If anyone else wants to come forward pls. do so and take charge. Communicate with the northern CA foks and organize a combined call or seperate call. We need someone to take a leadership role in this chapter at this time. Contact each and every member in this thread and bring them together to work on IV agenda items as outliined on the link on IV homepage for chapters.

Just thought it will be an useful info.
Recently renewed NJ DL with EAD and expired I-94 (Paroled). Following documents were produced at Kilmer Rd DMV:
1) Current unexpired NJ DL
2) Passport with expired I-94 (Paroled)
3) EAD
4) SSN card
5) Address Proof (utility bill)
DL renewed until EAD expiry date PLUS 3 months.

There seems to be 2 different opions about the process after CIS has received hundreds of thousands of applications until Aug 17th.
1. Once received, CIS cannot sort out the applications according to PD, so only RD is important.
2. PD is still an important factor, so if CIS is stuck with tons of applications on their hand, they will prioritize them by PD, which means if you have PD Dec 2004 and RD Jul 25 2007, you will be approved earlier than someone with PD Mar 2005 and RD Jul 2 2007.
Greg Siskind, an immigration lawyer known to most folks here for his blog, says in his new FAQs that CIS should work on by PD.

Senator sessions was the key due to the lame duck session rules but going forward as i understand a majority can pass the bill..not ever one need to vote for the bill.
Money would help core do activities like setting up the web site, faxes, going to DC, educating law makers...nothing comes free in this world.
I am sure core team would like to post the account details on this web site and be done with it. And may be list down the number of hours and money they have spent from their personal accounts too. But there are some issues with that. We can always call them up for details if that is what is holding you from contributing. Its only a phone call away.

This is not true in most cases. The F1 might be for 2 yrs minimum + 1 year EAD + at least 2 yrs on H1B before the GC process starts. Then its 7+ years...
So overall, we are talking 10+ years to get permanant residency in a majority of cases.

Here is the scoop.
from US Congresswoman's office, an immigration specialist spoke to their liaison at the Nebraska Service Center.
Liaison confirmed the following:
1. I-140 approval in September, 2007 (actually 09/04/2007 as I have the hard copy)
2. I-140 revocation in Feb, 2009 ( he has not provided the day of the month, but from LUD I have it strongly pointing to 02/03/2009)
I have not told the Congresswoman's office about the I-140 revocation. Just mentioned that it might have happened as I have left the company.
3. Liaison did confirm that even after the I-140 being withdrawn I am eligible for adjustment thru AC21.
4. Liaison did agree that if the I-140 was revoked within the stipulated time given in AC21, Nebraska�s decision to deny the I-485 may have been in error. (which in my case is true)
Immigration specialist at the Congresswoman's office is going to contact the Director of NSC to review this matter with a supervisor
Unanswered questions:
1. If the Liaison can see that my I-140 is approved on 09/04/2007, why is that the adjudicating officer is responding with a denial on 09/04/2007 and subsequent denial of I-485?

Conclusion:
Atleast in my case it looks deliberate and intentional.

People receive emails about info. posted on state chapters. I have asked other chapter leads to post on their chapter boards as well. I am not sure if we have a consolidated, updated and verified list of all the members across all the state chapters to be able to send an email at this time.

I feel that most of the members are not aware at this time. Usually when ever something is happening live at senate or congress, more members visit and follow the proceedings. Since there is nothing like that right now, i think it's time to communicate to all of'em.
Just a thought to increase the momentum. This is a great initiative indeed in this tough economy
By the way, i've mailed another check of $50 today morning, towards yesterday's target of $2000
